Why do we still use optical microscopy when FIB,
SEM and SPM
are available? There is no doubt that the best optical microscopes
today are still capable of seeing the structure of circuits
and can do so with a clarity and ease that that can still be
surprising. Our Zeiss Axiotron microscopes have high resolution
apochromatic lenses. They operate in bright-field, dark-field
and confocal scanning modes. We have high resolution digital
cameras for storing images. We have a UV source, objective and
camera for ultra high resolution work (170nm). We have the latest
suite of software for image manipulation, including automatic
stitching of multiple adjacent images. All in all, we can surprise
you with what can be achieved.
